"With the pressures of professional life, it can be hard to find balance and perspective. Lyn invites the courage to consider not only when to lean in, but also when it’s ok to lean out.

Lyn facilitates self-reflection and is the mentor every executive needs to light those inner fires and direct your personal and professional path to greater heights."

“I first came to Lyn as a new manager. She equipped me with essential skills that helped me develop a leadership style aligned with my personality and values, bringing out the best in my team. She taught me to manage the way I wanted to be managed, making me a confident leader of a growing and thriving team.

"I was fortunate enough to have Lyn as my CEO and mentor in my first HR Manager role. She is supportive, caring and dispenses her wisdom with kindness and honesty.

Her approach is inclusive and enables you to develop and share your ideas in an environment which allows mistakes and growth.

Lyn shares the wealth of her experience through her mentoring approach and her stories are easily relatable and applicable to any experience you might be facing. Lyn is always prepared to push up her sleeves and work through any issue you face to help you reach the right solution.

"My close association with Lyn goes back over a decade during my time as an AHRI Councillor, Victorian State President and AHRI Board member. Lyn’s open door policy to AHRI’s member volunteers was something that stands her apart from other busy CEO’s I have worked for over the course of my career. She is a patient listener who has assisted me resolving several business and personal problems. I have sought Lyn’s wise counsel on a couple of occasions when I had been considering a change in career. On these occasions Lyn has acted as a personal coach / mentor would do. She has summarised and reflected back my concerns, provided me with some useful and honest feedback regarding my skills and also raised some career options which previously I have not seriously considered. When you leave Lyn’s office after one of these discussions, you feel encouraged to try what you have agreed, as you know that option has been fully considered."

“Lyn was instrumental in mentoring me through a major transition that touched every aspect of my life. Having a confidential and expert point of contact across the change journey – where I could have open and honest conversations, was key to helping me stay focused and maintain momentum.

Lyn makes you feel really supported, like she is walking alongside you, while at the same time holding you accountable against your goals.”

"I'm looking forward to the next time I’m asked in an interview ‘who is a leader you most admire and why’ . My answer would be Lyn Goodear , who we said goodbye to as the outgoing CEO of Australian HR Institute.

In my volunteer role as Councillor of AHRI I have been lucky to have been exposed to some very good leaders and people on this journey. Lyn is one who I will always remember as a great example of effective leadership in the way that she has maintained a consistent and positive focus on certification and the importance of good Human Resources to the environments of Australian businesses."

"Despite having many demands on her time as a CEO, Lyn always made time to mentor young professionals like myself.

Lyn always made time to listen and encouraged me to have confidence in my own abilities, helping me understand my own strengths and where I can add value.

Lyn is patient, kind, and encouraging but also not afraid to challenge my assumptions and point me in new direction of thinking.

Executives at any stage in their career, particularly women who may experience self-doubt, will benefit from mentoring and coaching by Lyn."

“Purpose. Performance. People. Permission. These are the ‘P’s that have steered my career and the foundations of leadership that Lyn has shared with me over the past decade. As my CEO, our 1:1 sessions would often spill well over-time, but undeniably worthwhile, whilst she coached and mentored me as we worked together on a range of strategic, operational and fundamental initiatives at AHRI.

Through Lyn’s outstanding dedication to our organisation’s purpose, we also went on to develop what was to become one of the game-changing initiatives for the HR profession – HR certification. But these achievements were only able to be executed because of the grounded, measured and deliberate work of a CEO that placed performance of people and the impacts of good HR at the centre of any effort.
We may not have always been ‘philosophically aligned’ in our views, but there was always space to air them – by respecting each other’s decisions having developed a vulnerability based trust that gave me permission to tackle boundaries within the scope of reason.

I continue to admire Lyn’s poise and charm as a leader, mother, partner, grandmother and friend. Now, as a CEO of an industry membership body myself, I often reflect on those core leadership qualities that Lyn so generously espoused. Every now and then, when I’m in a quandary at work, I ask myself…’What would Lyn do?’…
